About Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University
The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University in Salna, Gazipur sits on over 190 acres of land, including 50 acres of experimental farm. The rural setting, between Joydebpur Chowrasta and the National Park of Rajendrapur is a good setting for a university focused on all things agriculture.
First opening its doors to students in 1998, the government-financed university has five faculties with 36 departments. The faculties are the faculty of graduate studies, agriculture, fisheries, veterinary medicine and animal science and agricultural economics and rural development.
As well as its extensive farmland, the university has four student halls. Students can benefit from a regular bus service running between campus and Dhaka twice a day.
The university is focused first and foremost on developing the teaching, skills and research with a particular focus on farming communities.
There is also a focus on pursuing sustainable development through research, innovation and agricultural education. The ultimate aim is to grow and develop the farm economy in Bangladesh by creating high quality graduates in a range of relevant fields.
